The 2021 CCPA Board of Directors Election

What you need to know about the election:


We are using an online voting system again this year. Everyone who intends to vote is asked to request their ballots as early as possible (see how below). In order to vote, one must request a ballot, and more requests that are processed before the meeting will help the election process run more smoothly and provide more opportunity to resolve any issues that come up. Accommodations can be made for people who have a problem accessing the online voting method, but we ask everyone who can to use the online voting system. It saves the organization time and money.

This year, voting will not take place during the meeting. There will be no check-in process and all are welcome to attend the meeting. The meeting will still require a quorum (25 members) attending, and candidate nominations and presentations will take place at the meeting.

Candidate statements and a recording of the annual meeting information will be provided to members on the WOW Hall website. Voting will begin by November 15th and the polls will close at 5p.m. on Friday, November 19th, 2021. PLEASE REQUEST YOUR BALLOTS EARLY (before Nov 14th). See the voter eligibility explanation below.

Begin posting candidate statements. New candidate statements will be posted as they are received.

Online Membership Meeting including:

  • Nominations, and
  • Candidate presentations (length of time allotted for each candidate will be dependent on the number of candidates)

November 15:

3rd party service sends out ballots to those who have requested them.


Voting takes place

November 19th at 5p.m.

Polls close. Results will be provided as soon as possible.

Voter Eligibility:

  • Before the end of the Annual Membership Meeting:
    • Any current member can receive a ballot (membership not expired).
    • Any person who becomes a member before the end of the Annual Membership Meeting is eligible to request and receive a ballot. Anyone whose membership expired before 10/25/2020 must renew by 11/14/2021 in order to be eligible to vote this year.
  • After the Annual Membership Meeting, until Friday, November 19th, 2021 at 4pm.:
    • Current members may request and receive ballots.
    • Anyone whose membership expired AFTER October, 25th, 2020 (after the last election), may renew their membership and receive a ballot.*
    • Anyone who has never held a membership or whose membership status expired before October 25th, 2020 is ineligible to vote in this election.*

* After voting starts, some people WILL be allowed to renew and vote this year, even though the meeting is over.

Who will be allowed to renew and vote even after the voting has started? Only individuals whose membership was current at any time since the last election (10/25/2020).

Examples: If someone asks for a ballot on November 16th and their membership expiration date was 2/15/2021 they would be allowed to renew their membership and then vote because their membership expired AFTER 10/25/2020. If a member requests a ballot on November 16th and their membership expired on 12/30/1989, that person could renew but is not eligible to vote in this election.

The bottom line is, if you are a current member you are unaffected and EVERYONE SHOULD REQUEST BALLOTS EARLY. The earlier everyone requests their ballots, the easier it will be to resolve any questions about one's membership status.

Ballot Requests:

To request a ballot, email vote [at] wowhall [dot] org with the subject to read: “Ballot Request”. Each voting member MUST send their own ballot request. DO NOT REQUEST MULTIPLE BALLOTS IN ONE EMAIL.

Your email ballot request MUST be sent from the email address that will be used to send you your ballot. The request email must contain the following information:

  • Your name as it is recorded in the membership records of the CCPA.
  • The email address to which we should send your ballot (this makes it easier for data entry, but it needs to be the same as the email address making the request).
  • (optional) Your phone number. This is not required, but if there is any issue validating your membership, being able to contact you by phone may help expedite the process.

Once your request for a ballot is received, your membership status will be verified and you will receive a notice that you have been added to the voter list. If there is any issue verifying your membership status, you will be contacted to resolve the matter as soon as possible.

If you absolutely cannot use the online voting process, call the WOW Hall at (541) 687-2746 to request your ballot. If there is no answer, leave a message with your phone number.

Please be aware that it may be necessary to call you back to assist you with voting, and that call back may come from a phone number other than the WOW Hall.


This year there are currently 4 board positions to be filled by the election. As always, current Board of Directors Members whose term is expiring are automatically nominated for reelection if they choose to run. All other candidates must be nominated at the Annual Membership Meeting. One must be a member for 30 days prior to the Annual Membership Meeting in order to qualify to run for the Board of Directors.

Members wishing to seek election to the Board of Directors can declare their intent to run prior to the nomination process. By declaring your intent to run for the Board, you will be eligible to have your candidacy listed on the WOW Hall website. The listing will include a small picture, up to 100 words on the web page, and a link to a candidate statement of any length. The candidate statement will only be made available by the CCPA through the website (not sent out on paper), and will be attached to your listing as a PDF file. The W.O.W. Hall will comply with all COVID-19 Guidelines issued by the State of Oregon and the CDC at the time of the event. This may entail limitations on capacity that might be lower than the number of tickets sold and/or event cancellation.
