Quinn XCII with Chelsea Cutler: SOLD OUT

March 20, 2018 - 9:00pm

By Drew Orlick

On Tuesday, March 20, the Community Center for the Performing Arts and University of Oregon Campus Radio 88.1 FM KWVA proudly welcome Quinn XCII back to the WOW Hall along with special guest Chelsea Cutler.  This show is sold out.

Upon the arrival of early 2015’s Change of Scenery, Mikael Temrowski a.k.a. Mike T became Quinn XCII.  The new age singer/songwriter re-introduced himself artistically with influences from reggae, soul and hip-hop vocals to craft his incomparable style of indie pop music.  Lush electronic backings, produced by longtime collaborator ayokay, and his bright, crisp voice create a relaxed sound to balance his somber subject matter of heartbreak and nostalgia. His ability to write clever, simple lyrics that match a song’s vibe and connect to the listener has earned him writing credits for chart-toppers such as the Chainsmokers and Shawn Mendes in recent years.

As a Los Angeles resident via Detroit, Michigan, Quinn has no lack of musical inspiration surrounding him. From the early Motown soul of his upbringing to working in LA, a hotbed of production talent and the nation’s music industry capital, Quinn has always managed to find himself in the right company.  While studying at Michigan State, he began his musical career with the likes of Kanye West, Kid Cudi and Drake exploring the sonic boundaries of mainstream hip-hop and scoring the soundtrack of his undergraduate experience.  Soon after graduation, he paired with producer ayokay for the single, “Kings of Summer” in 2015.  Through an unanticipated viral push and radio exposure thanks to a growing fanbase, the song was a huge success, prompting both artists to sign with Columbia Records.

In the time since his sold-out show at WOW Hall last March, Quinn XCII released his debut album, The Story of Us in September through Columbia Records.  The Part II tour serves as an encore for the album, touring the show across new venues and cities all over North America.  Adding to his victory lap, the just-released deluxe edition of the album features four new songs.  Upon the tour’s conclusion Quinn will support Louis the Child and Big Wild at Red Rocks, before joining the music festival circuit over the summer months.

Special guest Chelsea Cutler is a 21-year-old singer, songwriter, and producer whose dreamy, youthful vocals and colorful lyrics capture the imagination effortlessly. Starting with recording acoustic covers in her bedroom at 17, to being a featured artist on songs with Louis The Child, Adventure Club and Chet Porter, Chelsea has made huge strides for being just old enough to drink.

In early 2017, one of her first original singles, “Your Shirt”, which artfully showcases her vocal range and writing ability, was released and has since amassed over 32 million plays on Spotify, introducing her talents to many for the first time.  In the meantime, she released “The Shine” with ayokay to great commercial success and recognition before becoming a frequent collaborator of Quinn XCII.  First being featured on Flare Guns, and then releasing the duet, Giving Up Ground, on her debut project, Snow In October EP. Supporting Quinn XCII on The Story of Us Part II tour will also be Chelsea Cutler’s debut national tour.

Doors open at 8:00 pm and showtime is 9:00.
