By Ruben Estrada,

On Saturday, December 2, the Community Center for the Performing Arts, PharmFresh Flowers, 20 After 4 and University of Oregon Campus Radio 88.1 FM KWVA proudly welcomes the How The Grouch Stole Christmas 2017 Tour to the WOW Hall with The Grouch, Del The Funky Homosapien, DJ Abilities, and DJ Fresh.

In the two decades The Grouch has been making music he has more than validated the longevity of his rap career.  He has released an impressive sixteen studio albums, rapping on all of them and producing on some as well.

Initially from Oakland, California, The Grouch spent the beginning of his career trying to make a name for himself in the local underground scene.  It was during this time he met rappers Sunspot Jonz and Luckyiam.  Eventually the three would embark on a series of tours that would lead to the creation of the indie rap group Living Legends.  The group has been releasing music since the late nineties and has remained one of the most lyrically impressive acts working in the genre.

In 2012, The Grouch announced a hiatus from Living Legends, however this has not slowed him down at all.  This upcoming tour marks his eleventh annual “How The Grouch Stole Christmas” series.  As skilled live as he is on the albums, fans should expect a great show from one of the most experienced emcees making music today.

Del The Funky Homosapien will be joining The Grouch for this year’s tour.  Also from the Oakland area, Del began making music as a teenager in the early nineties.  He started writing lyrics for his cousin Ice Cube’s group, Da Lench Mob, and from then on began his own solo career.

Staying true to his name, Del uses funk and soul samples throughout his work. With his smooth yet lyrical flow, combined with witty humor, he is sure to attract hip-hop fans of all kinds.

“How The Grouch Stole Christmas” is not just a night for the emcees.  DJ Abilities of the legendary duo, Eyedea and Abilities, and EDM artist DJ Fresh will be providing the show with some amazing turntable skills.

Those who have been craving an all around hip-hop show will not be disappointed when some of the most prominent indie artists of the genre come to Eugene to hit the stage.

Tickets are $20 in advance, $22 day of show.  Doors open at 8:00 pm and showtime is 9:00.
