Epic Beard Men (Sage Francis & B. Dolan) with Sammy Warm Hands

March 29, 2018 - 9:00pm

On Thursday, March 29, the Community Center for the Performing Arts proudly welcomes Sage Francis and B. Dolan back to the WOW Hall performing solo and together as Epic Beard Men.  Eugene’s own Sammy Warm Hands will open the show.

Sage Francis and B. Dolan seem prepared to take the New Year by storm.  This bearded dynamic duo will be bringing their energetic lyrics and performance skills to the WOW Hall on their U.S. tour in promotion of their new SEASON 1 EP. The act features the collaborative work of the two celebrated solo indie/underground rappers and displays their seamless blend of old-school inspired beats with absurdist hooks and lyrics.

The pair began kicking off their conquest of 2018 with their hilariously punchy “War On Christmas” single released for the 2017 holiday season.  The track, dropped mere days from Christmas, channels the mentality of a holiday Grinch armed to the teeth shouting “Revolution!” through a microphone and takes jabs at everyone from Fox News and Walmart to Mariah Carey.

Epic Beard Men do not shy away from criticism or discussion of any topic, upholding their goal to tackle difficult subjects while maintaining a focus on having fun while doing it. The duo has been building up a slew of new material and will be playing at Treefort Fest in Boise late March.

EBM’s full-length debut album is slated to drop in October.  They will also continue releasing music videos.

Sammy Warm Hands (Crushkill Recordings) is a prolific emcee, songwriter, producer, author, and director. Beginning as a punk singer/guitarist in the late 1990’s, Sam Wartenbee developed an impressive discography before even graduating high school.  His one-man company, Take 92 Music, has produced more than ninety records, nine US tours, a slew of music videos, two documentaries, a concert DVD, and a book.

His fan-funded solo debut, Bears Repeating (2014), was named one of the year’s top 10 albums by Sound Convictions. SYFFAL testified that “Sammy Warm Hands is one of my favorite rappers you’ve never heard… he gets not an ounce of the recognition he deserves.”

The sophomore follow up, Famous Last Words (2015), was unanimously praised by reviewers; Do Hip Hop called it “one hell of a dope album… along the lines of Atmosphere, Blueprint and Sage Francis.” Famous was accompanied by a new book, which offered a behind-the-scenes look at more than 35 albums. First editions sold out in only six weeks!

Critical praise continued for Vacant Eyes; a remix album that reimagines both Famous and Bears. To quote Crayon Beats, it is “dope from beginning to end.” Vacant Eyes features notable guests, like Casual (Hieroglyphics) on the fan-favorite, “Redefine The Flow.”

Sammy Warm Hands has collaborated and shared stages with Against Me!, Awol One, Bane, Blueprint, Brother Ali, Carnage The Executioner, Casual (Hieroglyphics), Ceschi (Fake Four), Count Bass D, Dark Time Sunshine, DJ Abilities, Ecid, Evidence (Dilated Peoples), Exile, Eyedea & Abilities, Factor, Fashawn, Freestyle Fellowship, Grayskul, Guante, Illogic, Jabee, Joe Beats, Kristoff Krane, Louis Logic, Milo, Murs, Myka 9, No Bird Sing, Onry Ozzborn, Open Mike Eagle, Psalm One, Sadistik, Sick of it All, Sunspot Jonz (Living Legends), Thrice, Tsunami Bomb, and countless others.

Tickets are $15 in advance, $18 day of show.  Doors open at 8:00 pm and showtime is 9:00.
